[ARCHIVED] Hays Recognized as Chickasha Key Citizen

Darci Hays, Key Citizen

On Monday, February 17, 2020, Mayor Chris Mosley recognized Darci Hays as Chickasha’s first Key Citizen of the Quarter.

“Darci volunteers at the school on a daily basis, and through that, she is helping to make our kids better, which in turn makes our community better,” Mosley said. “She is a great example for others of how through simple actions we all can make our community so much better.”

Hays began volunteering at Chickasha Public Schools in 2012, helping with everything from organizing dances, Santa stores and food drives to serving as a parent representative on various committees.

“I’m just there to help children and staff as much as I possibly can,” Hays said. “Sometimes that might even mean helping out in the cafeteria during lunch or being present during picture day to help with the kids.”

Hays was nominated for the honor by Miranda and Joe Molder.

A new initiative in 2020, the Key Citizen of the Quarter program will recognize four Chickasha citizens for their service each year. To nominate a citizen, send an email to sharing why you believe he or she should be recognized.

“The Key Citizen program was created because behind the scenes there is always someone working feverishly to make things better, without looking for any sort of recognition,” Mosley said. “I think those people should be recognized for going above and beyond, because I appreciate what they are doing for our community.”
