The City of Chickasha is proud to host Coats for Chickasha, a coat drive benefiting Chickasha Public School students. The drive is from Monday, October 21 – Monday, November 4, 2019.

Cold weather brings the need for coats and gloves, socks, hats and scarves to help keep warm. Approximately 2,000 students attend Chickasha Public Schools, and 75% of these children are from low-income families. For these families, providing warm winter clothing items for growing children can often be an added burden on already-stretched budgets. That is where we come in.

We want to provide these warm clothing items to help students stay warm and keep their focus on learning and playing, and so their families have one less burden to bear. But we can’t do this alone – we need your help!

We are asking for donations of new or gently used coats, jackets, gloves, scarves and warm hats, and new packages of socks. All adult and youth sizes are needed.

Donation boxes are available at City Hall, the Police Department, Fire Station 1 and 2, and the Chickasha Public Library. If your business or church is making a large donation, we are happy to arrange for pickup.

“The city staff and I feel very privileged to partner with the school to assist with this coat drive for the upcoming winter season,” said City Manager John Noblitt. “Being able to help provide these vital necessities for students is another part of what makes Chickasha a great place to live.”
