At the conclusion of March 8th’s Special Meeting of the City Council, the Council approved unanimously to hire John Noblitt as its new City Manager. Noblitt is no stranger to the area, as he currently serves as the City Manager of Lindsay. He commented during the “meet and greet” he and his family shop here frequently and he feels Chickasha has a lot of positive points and opportunities for the future. He has enjoyed watching Chickasha from afar and is interested in taking on the role of City Manager. Noblitt will join the staff at City Hall late April.
“My family and I are very excited to be joining the city of Chickasha, plugging in to the community and being a part of the bright future ahead of the City,” said newly hired City Manager John Noblitt.
During his tenure at the City of Lindsay, he coordinated a $25 million dollar long-term capital planning project to overhaul the water, sewer, electric and paving infrastructure, which began last summer. Noblitt also has extensive experience in community development and worked hand-in-hand with Gainesville’s Economic Development arm during his tenure as Community Services Director for the City of Gainesville, Texas. During both his tenures with municipalities, he was known for his transparency with the public and for his ability to strategically plan and implement positive policies, while also acquiring grant funds to accomplish various projects.
“John is eager to come on board and has worked hard in previous communities to involve himself within the community, while leading those communities forward,” said Mayor Hank Ross. “He looks forward to taking on the budget challenges, developing a good strategic plan with the current funding available and working with Council, leaders and citizens on further expanding economic opportunities and business, while maintaining the core infrastructure of the City.”
