Residents and travelers may have noticed new traffic poles at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Hwy 81, or 4th street. The construction project has now reached the phase where the traffic lights will now need to be transferred from the existing poles to the new poles.
This process will take approximately 24 hours and will begin at 7:30 am on Wednesday, November 2nd. To ensure public safety and the safety of the construction crews, east and west bound Grand Avenue traffic will not be able to access Hwy 81 during this time. North and south bound traffic off Hwy 81 will not be able to turn left or right during this time onto Grand Ave.
North and south traffic on Hwy 81 will be narrowed down to single lane but will not have to stop at the light to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible.¬¬¬
Grand Ave. will be closed from 6th street to Hwy 81 (west bound), local traffic will be able to drive to the 350 block of Grand avenue or just past the Walgreen’s entrance. Grand Avenue will be closed from 1st street to Hwy 81 for eastbound traffic.
The City, Chickasha Public Works and ODOT appreciate the cooperation of drivers during this switch over and understand the inconvenience. All parties are encouraging motorists to pay attention during this changeover.
