Home of the USAO Drovers and the nationally renowned Festival of Light, the City of Chickasha is located just 30 minutes southwest of Oklahoma City on the I-44 corridor, offering the convenience of urban living with a small-town atmosphere. Approximately 17,000 people live in the City, which is the county seat of Grady County. Small, family-owned businesses flourish in Chickasha, along with major manufacturers including HSI Sensing and LSPI. Visitors are drawn to Chickasha for the annual Oklahoma Food Truck Championship, activities at the Grady County Fairgrounds & Events Center, tournaments at the Chickasha Sports Complex and many other exciting, family-friendly entertainment opportunities.
The City of Chickasha has a Council-Manager form of government, with residents electing, on a staggered schedule, one Mayor and eight Council Members to represent the City’s four wards. The City Manager is hired by and serves at the pleasure of the City Council.
In searching for our next City Manager, the City of Chickasha is seeking an innovative leader to plan, direct and evaluate our activities, operations, programs and services. The City Manager controls the development and execution of the City of Chickasha’s strategic plan and annual budget, and as chief executive officer, ensures government operations and functions effectively serve the needs of Chickasha residents and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge of modern and highly complex principles and practices of public administration, financial management and personnel administration. The ability to manage, provide leadership to and coordinate the activities and operations of a diverse and complex municipal organization is key. Additionally, candidates should have knowledge of advanced principles and practices of municipal budget preparation and administration, along with financial and fiscal planning.
Applicants should have at least seven years of increasingly responsible experience in the planning, organization, implementation and supervision of varied work programs, including five years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent with work in public administration, business administration or related field is required.
