The City of Chickasha will be changing from Chloramines to Chlorine in the City’s Water Distribution System during the month of August 2019.

Currently, the City of Chickasha uses chloramines for disinfection of our drinking water. Chloramines are created by combining chlorine and ammonia. During this changeover starting August 1 and ending August 31, 2019, the disinfection process will be changed from Chloramines to Free Chlorine. By changing to Free Chlorine, which is a stronger and faster-acting disinfectant, and combining City-wide flushing to remove sediments from the Distribution System, it will help eliminate sediments that have built up in the Distribution System over the course of the year.
